Remembering Pee-Wee Herman

Today’s Secret Word: heartbreak

Paul Reubens/Pee-Wee Herman was absolutely INSTRUMENTAL in forming my sense of humor as a child. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve seen Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure.

Pee-Wee Performs Dances (Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure)

I lived and breathed Pee-Wee’s Playhouse growing up, and his numerous cameos in tv and film over the decades were a treat. (one Back To The Beach Comes To Mind):

His weird humor and wit was HIGHLY specific and more intelligent than people gave him credit for—especially when it came to Playhouse. That show truly changed the landscape of children’s programming and I still have fond memories of it to this day. He also made a snappy comeback a part of popular culture. case in point:

I Know You Are But What Am I (Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure)

Although he briefly fell from grace in the early 90’s, he marked an amazing series of comebacks that all started with this:

Pee Wee on The MTV Music Awards

And it all culminated in the revival of his stage show on Broadway in 2011:

In recent Years he kept busy appearing on TV and on Game shows supporting charities that were near and dear to him:

Celebrity Wheel Of Fortune
Celebrity Family Feud
